In one of the most politically progressive, and whitest states in the nation, issues of racism, discrimination and bigotry are just as prevalent here as they are anywhere else.
The rise of hate crimes, bias, and more indicate an important shift is happening, one that we cannot ignore. If any state can turn things around, I believe that Vermont is up to the task.
We ask the question,
“How do we change the course of the nation by transforming this 'Brave Little State' to become a template for systemic antiracism?”
Join me as we talk to Vermonters and learn about the challenges and societal changes that are necessary to undo racism in Vermont.
This documentary video project will explore the past and present landscape of racial equity and persistent cultural and social divisions in Vermont, and seek to find a path forward by asking questions and exploring solutions. We will document efforts that are underway at the community, statewide, and legislative levels to address and eradicate systemic bigotry, and present a chorus of voices to relay personal experiences and tell the stories that need to be heard.
